The Vulnerable Function

The 4th function of Model A is the Vulnerable function, also known as the 'Point of Least Resistance'. It is the blind spot in the person's psyche, the part that is suppressed by the individual and perceived as alien to them. It does not even notice, let alone adapt to external expectations, setting up the person for failure.

The Vulnerable function is defined by the following dichotomies:

  1. Public vs Private
  2. Strong vs Weak
  3. Valued vs Neglected
  4. Obvious vs Subtle
  5. Constant vs Variable
  6. Stubborn vs Flexible
  7. Demanding vs Supplying

It forms the Superego block with the Vulnerable function.

It forms the Substitution transition with the Creative function.

It forms the Hubris dynamic with the Mobilising function.
